Bedrock Principles for Believers from the Apostle Paul

On Mission for God as Sheep Amongst Wolves
- -Last Sunday, I heard a sermon that shed new light on some passages I had considered in the past. Yet another instance of the unfathomable depths of the holy Scriptures. We can always discover more. In Matthew 10, Jesus dispersed his twelve disciples in pairs to spread the good news… Read More -
God is Not Looking for Clever People
- -Recently, I’ve been reading a book by Watchman Nee, a well-known Chinese Christian teacher and leader of the 20th century. His main premise in the book is the importance of “breaking the outer man” so that the spirit of the inner man can be released and advance Christ’s kingdom. Without… Read More -

No More Fear of Missing Out
- -As I hiked through an old-growth juniper forest full of flitting warblers, alone with my thoughts and prayers, I began to ponder the construct that in recent years has been called the fear of missing out (FOMO). It’s that discomfort in our gut when we see someone’s perfect social media… Read More -
Following Jesus to the End
- -“The quiet, passionate insistence of his ‘Follow me” is spoken to those with every power wide awake. If we let the Spirit of God bring us face to face with God, we too shall hear something akin to what Isaiah heard, the still small voice of God, and in perfect… Read More -

The story itself is a great read, and I recommend it for its literary and entertainment value alone.… Read More -
Let Him Now Come Down from the Cross
- -This title comes from the account of Jesus hanging on the cross. The Roman soldiers mocked him and the Jewish leaders chimed in enthusiastically. Their full-blown contempt reads: “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel! Let him come down now from the… Read More
The Scripture Comes to Life Blog
One of my greatest joys is reading and studying the Bible. While I do so, I pray that God will give me supernatural insight I’ve never seen or heard preached before. He has faithfully done so. A teacher at heart, my study is driven by a desire to teach and share the wonderful truths he reveals.
I’ve written on a wide variety of themes and topics. The blogs are searchable by topic and with keywords.
As you read, may Scripture come to life for you in many marvelous and helpful ways.
