About Ruth E. Stitt

Portrait of Ruth Stitt, Author, Counselor, MusicianRuth E. Stitt is an ordained minister, professional counselor, author, and musician. She has authored two non-fiction books, the first a devotional compilation of theological essays from her blog, Scripture Comes to Life, and the second, a memoir of her three decades as a therapist and a resource for other counselors and caregivers.

Her third book is a fictionalized true family story from the Holocaust, which required a pivot to the genre of historical fiction. This project has increased her knowledge and concern about the dangers of antisemitism and has opened up many opportunities to discuss the issue with individuals and groups throughout the land.

Ruth continues to counsel and consult while working on books and contributing regularly to her Scripture Comes to Life blog and another blog called Walking in Wisdom, on Psychology Today’s online platform. She also sends out weekly offerings on Substack.

A lifelong guitarist and vocalist, Ruth performs jazz and contemporary music as a soloist and with her jazz trio, Cats in Hats, and can be found leading worship at many gatherings of believers. She can’t imagine a life that didn’t include making music.

At this stage of life, the streams of music, theology, psychology, and ministry have all converged into a beautiful flow of creativity, love, and spirit. She plans to keep writing and publishing words that glorify God and edify people, playing music that uplifts the hearts of listeners, and sharing wisdom she has gained along the way.

Ruth enjoys living in the beautiful hill country of Texas with her husband and two dogs, spending lots of time walking, gardening, watching birds, and basking in the company of good friends.
